How to protect your passwords

Did you think that your passwords are securely protected by encryption?

You were wrong.

This recovery tool https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/chromepass.html can easy extract all your encrypted passwords.11

It doesn't support command line, but it's not a problem to download another one and write scripts to steal all your passwords.

For example, a hacker can make a script that run automatically when you insert a flash drive into your computer, read your passwords and store them on the same flash drive. It only takes a few seconds.

Windows has ability to Manage controlled folder access.

All you have to do, it protect the the folder that contain the special file 'Login Data' that contain all passwords in Chrome. It's located in

'C:\Users\userXXX\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default'.

I recommend to protect the whole Google folder.

If you have Opera in hacker could expose your usernames. In Opera, 'Login Data' file located in: 'C:\Users\userXXX\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable'.

Go to the Windows Settings and type 'protected' in the search box . From drop list select 'Protected folders' .
